A lot of interest in Augusta for Tuesday’s Presidential primary. Advanced voting for both the Democrat and Republican Primaries  ended on Friday.

After a slow start in Augusta early voters really turned out casting more  than 55 hundred ballots.

Elections officials say that’s the most early votes -ever-  for a presidential primary.

“In Richmond County we have surpassed the numbers we saw in 2008 for this type of election up until this point 2008 well set the record for advance voting for this type of election,” says Elections Director Lynn Bailey.

Bailey isn’t sure how the big number of early votes will impact overall total turnout, but says she wouldn’t  be surprised if 35 percent of registered voters come out for the primaries.
