Augusta, GA (WJBF) – There could be more smoke in the air Monday over the CSRA.

Two prescribed burns are taking place.

The Fort Gordon Wildland Fire Team will conduct a controlled, prescribed burn of 3,300 acres Monday at Range 17 and on Artillery Impact Areas, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Also, the Long Cane Ranger District of the Sumter National Forest will be conducting a controlled, prescribed burn of 924 acres Monday along Woodlawn Road in McCormick County.

With the forecast westerly winds, at no time should Columbia County be impacted by the smoke, but it will be visible from the Fury’s Ferry Road area – and possibly other locations.
