Man Alerted To House Fire On Damascus Road By Neighbor

Augusta, GA (WJBF) – An Augusta man is safe after house fire due to his neighbor’s quick reaction.

The man was in his home located at 2916 Damascus Road and heard someone knocking on his door. When he answered his door, his neighbor was outside telling him to get out of the house becuse it was on fire.

Smoke and flames were seen coming from an area near the carport, according to Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department spokesperson Dee Griffin.

Fire crews worked to extinguish the fire, which damaged the house.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.

There is no word, at this time, on what may have caused the fire.
