Columbia County, GA (WJBF) – Two deaths in two separate cases this week in Columbia County that stemmed from what investigators are calling domestic violence disputes are casting the spotlight on the issue

A husband, Christopher Daniel Buehler, is dead in Grovetown and his wife, Gretchen Buehler, is recovering in the hospital after what officers are calling an attempted murder-suicide that happened on Tuesday.

Thursday, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigators say Anthony Thomas Sherill shot and killed his stepson, 23-year-old, during a domestic violence dispute.

SafeHomes of Augusta’s executive director, Aimee Hall, says domestic disputes are something they’re seeing more of these days and it isn’t just between a partner and their significant other… “Our mandates, over the years, have changed. Now, we are a family violence shelter, so we do have those incidents where we have parents calling, telling us that their child is abusing them, or their siblings.”

If you are a victim of domestic violence, or you know someone who is, you can call SafeHomes of Augusta at 706-736-2499.
