Columbia County, GA (WJBF) – A chance for Columbia County high school students to experience life in the workforce is what the Work-Based Learning Program through the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Columbia County School System is all about.
Student Bailey Booth is in the program. She says it’s teaching her skills now that will carry her into the workforce after college, but Chamber president Tammy Shepherd says she’s one of few who are participating.
“A lot of kids don’t know all the opportunities that are out there and we can expose them to careers that they aren’t familiar with, and again, get them interested in a career that is in our community,” Shepherd told us.
The program gives students school credit as well as skills in the work force. To learn more about the Work Base Study Program contact the Administrative office at your child’s school.
