Harlem’s Reggie Reid is thrilled to be playing in the NCAA Tournament as only a freshman. “Definitely been an unbelievable experience and opportunity to have,” Reid told us on the phone Wednesday. “Just the atmosphere and everything that goes along with it like coming to the hotels, flying out. all this traveling. It’s just unbelievable. I didn’t see this happening. We knew that we were capable of making it here but i didn’t think — it didn’t set in that it would happen freshman year.”
Reid plays guard for Florida Gulf Coast University. The team that was known as Dunk City back in 2013 is back in the NCAA Tourney. The 16th seeded Eagles won their NCAA First Four game against Fairleigh Dickinson Tuesday night. Reid scored 5 points and dished out 3 assists in the game. On the season, Reid was 2nd on the team in assists, averaging just over 3 per game.
Florida Gulf Coast will try to do the impossible on Thursday night. They take on #1 seed North Carolina in Raleigh, NC at 7:20 on TBS. No #16 seed has ever beaten a #1 seed in NCAA Tournament history.
