Grovetown, GA (WJBF) – Several Grovetown police officers and firefighters are being recognized for saving the life of a shooting victim.
Gretchen Buehler was shot by her husband before he took his own life in February. All the law enforcement and fire crews who responded that day were recently honored by the city.
The first responders we spoke with, like Officer Samuel Long with the Grovetown Department of Public Safety, say they’re honored that their work is being noticed. “It feels good certainly to be recognized by the city council and in front of all the co-workers. And the town filled up that meeting.”
Augusta University gave out life-saving kits to law enforcement agencies last week and Grovetown Public Safety says it will be using them to train each officer on first responder skills.
