Elderly Woman Killed in Whiskey Road Accident

AIKEN, S.C. – An accident on Whiskey Road in Aiken claimed the life of an elderly woman.

On the morning of April 1, 82-year-old Betty Weiand, driving her 2012 Honda, was struck and killed by another driver. According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, Weiand was exiting Fountain of Life Church when the accident happened. She reportedly failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming Jeep and was struck on the driver side. The Honda then swerved back into the parking lot and struck the church building.

Betty Weiand was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep and Weiand’s son, who was in the passenger seat of the Honda, were taken to Augusta University Medical Center. They are reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
