Body of woman found at Lake Lanier in north Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Police say the body of a woman has been found at a lake in north Georgia.

Gainesville Police Department Sgt. Kevin Holbrook tells local news media that fishermen found the body floating in Lake Lanier under the Dawsonville Highway Bridge at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The body will be taken to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Deputies retrieved the body from the water with the help of a Hall County Fire marine rescue boat.

The identity of the woman has not been released.
