Autopsy Results Returned For Warren County Teen Found In Woods After Police Chase

WARRENTON, Ga. (WJBF) – On Monday, an autopsy was performed in the death investigation of 15-year-old Dexter Thomas, Jr.

According to Steven Foster, with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the preliminary results indicate that Thomas’ manner of death is Accidental.

The GBI investigation is ongoing and additional information will be forthcoming.

WARRENTON, Ga. (WJBF) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has released the identity of the body found in the woods on Thursday in Warren County during the investigation into a police chase.

The deceased male has been identified as 15-year-old Dexter Thomas, Jr. of Warrenton.

No cause of death has been released.

The investigation is ongoing.

WARRENTON, Ga. (WJBF) – Several agencies are investigating the death of a man found dead in the woods on Thursday.

According to the GBI, on Wednesday, a Warrenton police officer was in the woods following a suspect during a police chase. He eventually lost site of the suspect in the darkness.

On Thursday, police were conducting a follow up investigation related to the chase when they discovered a man’s body in a roadside stream along Georgia Highway 16, west of Warrenton.

The GBI, along with Warrenton Police Department, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the Warren County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

The identity of the victim is known and may be released upon notification of family.

The body is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, Georgia for an autopsy to determine a cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
