Jags Post Season-High Total Runs In 21-4 Win At Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Mo. – The Augusta Jaguars improved to 28-14 on the year and set a season-high total runs with a 21-4 non-conference win at Emmanuel College on Tuesday night.

 

Ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Southeast Region, the Jaguars (28-14) traveled to Emmanuel (7-36) for the second time this season and grabbed their second win after dominating a 15-1 meeting on March 22.

 

The Jags put up 24 hits against the Lions – three shy of the all-time Augusta University school record (27, vs. Fairmont State, 3/12/85). They also combined for eight doubles on the day.

 

Senior Hunter Boose was perfect at the plate and went 4-4 with two home runs to card five RBI and four runs. Senior Connor Gilbert also hit a homer and was 3-4 with four RBI and two runs, sophomore Jim Wagner went 4-6 with two runs and two RBI, and junior Tyler Roberts had three RBI and scored three times in a 2-4 day.

 

The Jaguars had four pitchers throw in the game and sophomore David Hagelston (4-2) got his fourth win after making his sixth start of the year. Hagelston gave up six hits for three runs and had two strikeouts.

 

Sophomore Casey Lenoch and senior C.J. Reed made brief appearances out of the bullpen, before senior David Bermudez dealt in 4.0 innings – striking out three and giving up four hits for one run.

 

Emmanuel had 25 players enter the game Derrick Cars was 4-4 and Trent Jones and Stephen Skeg 2-3.

 

Augusta travels to Pembroke, N.C., for a three-day Peach Belt Conference series against the UNC Pembroke Braves April 22-24.
