One Person Injured, Cars Damaged In Hephzibah Shooting

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is looking for the supect(s) behind a shooting Sunday night.

Hephzibah, GA (WJBF) – One person was injured and several cars were damaged by gunfire in Hephzibah early Tuesday morning.

According to Lieutenant Allan Rollins, with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at Richmond Villas Apartments, located at 3551 Windsor Spring Road, around 1:42 a.m.

When deputies arrived, 24-year-old Tyral Shaquille Lawson and 22-year-old Artavius Keon Ward told them that someone began “shooting from an unknown location and for unknown reasons”, and they began to attempt to flee. Lawson was reportedly hit in the heel by a bullet and was transported to Augusta University’s Emergency Room by Gold Cross.

Deputies located the scene in front of one of the buildings where 3 vehicles were hit by gunfire.

Lt. Rollins tells us the investigation is in its early stages.

There has been no suspect named, at this time.
