Augusta, GA (WJBF) — Lindsay Wallace began participating in triathlons when she was just six years old. She eventually decided to primarily focus on the swimming portion of triathlons, and that worked out pretty well for her.
This week’s WJBF Scholar Athlete is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who signed a scholarship to swim at Georgia Tech. Wallace also leads her class with a 4.0 GPA in school.
Wallace swims competitively for the Davidson Fine Arts’ and ASL club swimming teams, which makes for an interesting schedule.
“We don’t see her at our high school practice because she’s practicing with her ASL team, which is in the same pool,” Davidson swim coach Sara Nelson said. “So when we have swim meets, she’ll have practice and then when it’s time for her to swim her event, she’ll get out of the pool, swim her event, win it, and then go back to practice.”
Whoa. Pretty incredible.
Even Wallace was laughing as she talked about her typical swim schedule.
“I have eight practices a week and I have to get up before school to go practice twice a week and then I come to school and I go to practice again,” she said. “So really, focus and dedication has really helped me through high school to be able to continue swimming and keep up my grades.”
