HARLEM, GA — A veterans group that is walking across the country made a stop in Augusta this week.
Larry Hinkle and Jocelyn Cupido started at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and will walk more than 2,600 miles to Camp Pendleton, California.
The two are hiking across the country to help out veterans.
During their journey, they are stopping at VA facilities to connect with veterans.
Saturday, they were at hanging out at VFW Post 6445 in Harlem, Georgia.
Hinkle hopes to create awareness about the problems veterans face.
“It took me 9 years to get my situation with the VA figured out. I know what a trying process that was and how mentally exhausting that was at times. Anything that we can do to help,” he said.
Musician Daniel Foster is joining Hinkle and Cupido on their journey.
He’s been playing music for veterans.
