(AUGUSTA,GA) Augusta commissioners talking about too many weeds in the Garden City.
As we first told you Monday the city is again getting lot’s of complaints about overgrown lots. So far this year the city has issued more than 950 notices to owners to get the property cut, if not the city moves in an does it.
But city officials say even then it’s too big a job to get all the lots.
“One we have to go through a legal process two we have three crews that are working continuously the need exceeds the resources that we got,” says Environmental Services Director Mark Johnson,
“There’s more grass to cut than people to cut it.”
“The real objective is to get the property owners to maintain their property,” says Johnson.
In an effort to help get the city cleaned up Commissioners voted to hold a work shop on over grown lots and dilapidated buildings.
