(AUGUSTA,GA) A road map for the future of Augusta’s park system is nearly complete.
]Commissioners getting the final update on the 270 thousand dollar recreation department master plan. According to the study that looked at all 60 rec site the public is less interested in building new parks and more interested in maintaining and improving the existing ones.
“”We heard the public say we need to take care of what we have we got great facilities but they’re not in very good condition and some of those need to be brought up to standards made more attractive better signage branding and put a little garden city touch on each of the parks,” says Tom Robertson a local engineer and masterplan consultant.
The Masterplan identified 16 city par rated as under used and in poor condition, this was done in the event commissioners wanted to reduce the number of parks in the system.
