2 Augusta Papa John’s Employees Reportedly Stabbed During Attempted Armed Robbery

Augusta, GA (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help in locating a suspect in an attempted armed robbery and assault that happened at the Papa John’s Pizza restaurant located at 1827 Walton Way in Augusta Tuesday night.

Investigators say the incident happened around 11:00 p.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that two employees were present at the location at the time of the incident. Both employees were found to have sustained stab wounds after being attacked by the suspect, who entered the building by way of the drive-through window. Investigators learned that the store manager was confronted by the suspect while the manager was conducting inventory.

The suspect reportedly approached the manager while brandishing a knife and demanded money. The suspect then reportedly stabbed the manager several times and fled after being confronted by the other employee in the building, who was also stabbed. The suspect was last seen leaving the building through the back door and turning left on Franklin Lane in the direction of Eve Street.

The suspect is described as being a black male, about 5’8″ tall, and weighing about 160 pounds. Investigators say he was wearing a dark colored hat, dark colored tee shirt or mask covering his face, dark colored shirt or jacket, dark colored pants, and white tennis shoes. He reportedly had a dark colored knife.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Callers may remain anonymous.
