Columbia, SC (WJBF) — Bamberg-Ehrhardt’s boys soccer team had already made history, playing for the first state championship in program history. They faced a tall task going up against 4-time defending champion St. Joseph’s in the SCHSL 1A championship game at Irmo High School. St. Joseph’s hadn’t allowed a goal in the playoffs, and they didn’t allow a goal on Friday, defeating Bamberg-Ehrhardt 6-0 in the title game.
Red Raiders head coach David Choi was still extremely proud of his team. “It’s a great season with some great players,” Choi told WJBF Sports after the loss. “We’re going to be sorry to see 11 seniors go. We are not a governor’s school. We’re not a charter school. We are truly public. We have a restricted area. We don’t recruit. We can’t. So we are the best public school there is at this level.”
