Inmate Escapes McCormick County Jail

McCormick County, SC — An inmate has been captured after he escaped from the McCormick County Jail Sunday evening.

Investigators say the prisoner climbed over a barbed wire fence around 4:40 p.m.

Deputies searched several areas near Highway 28 and were able to find the man around 8:30 p.m.

Details about the inmate and his charges were not provided.

Officials say this is the first time a prisoner has escaped the prison.

The jail opened in 2007.
