MARTINEZ, Ga. (WJBF) – Monday morning, more than 100 runners laced up their shoes to take part in the “Wear Blue: Run to Remember” 5k and 10k.
The third annual event was held at the Savannah Rapids Pavilion. Runners dedicated their miles run to fallen military personnel, including Major Michael Donahue of Evans, who was killed while serving overseas several years ago.
The organization’s goal is to reach 6,878 dedicated miles worldwide, one for each fallen service member since 9-11.
“We provide a place where it’s safe for family members that have lost loved ones in combat to come and join us and we share in those losses,” says organizer Joe Matosian.
“Wear Blue: Run to Remember” holds similar events each month. You can find more information on them on their website here.
