AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) — High school graduations continue this week all across the CSRA, but one particular senior class is going out by giving back.
It was a good time for a good cause.
“We kinda call it seniors giving to seniors,” said Student Council President Kiah Morris.
Barnwell seniors took a day trip to AirStrike in Augusta to benefit senior citizens back home.”
Morris: “We’re going to donate the money we collected today to Meals On Wheels.”
Each student chipped in $7 for the trip. Generations Unlimited provided transportation Tuesday and provides services to senior citizens of Barnwell every day. It donated all money collected for the trip to Meals on Wheels.
“It’s a big need in our town and we need it so we want to try to help out as much as possible,” Morris said.
The event also allowed the Barnwell graduating class of 2016 to make one more high school memory.
“I was almost in tears because this is the last time we’re going to be together before we graduate and go off to college,” Morris said.
“You see the smiles and the laughter, it makes me feel good,” said Moore.
“We just wanted to promote unity and bring our class together one more time before we graduate in two days and everbody goes their separate ways,” Morris said.
All totaled, the students raised nearly $150 for the Meals On Wheels program in Barnwell.
