Deputies arrest man accused of setting ex-girlfriend on fire

ELLENWOOD, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say a man wanted for setting his ex-girlfriend on fire has been found hiding in the woman’s attic.

Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury tells news outlets that 39-year-old Mervin Woodard was arrested Friday morning inside the victim’s Ellenwood residence.

Police say investigators received a tip from neighbors who spotted Woodard as he parked the vehicle he was driving a few blocks away from the home.

Authorities say the woman suffered third-degree burns on more than 25 percent of her body after she was doused in gasoline on Wednesday and set on fire.
