AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Augusta city leaders want to study creating a development authority for the south side.
Commissioners voted in favor of creating a sub-committee to analyze the pros and cons of creating the authority to look at bringing in new businesses to south Augusta.
And while commissioners believe it’s okay to study the issue many questions remain whether another authority just for south Augusta is needed.
“I think we need to broaden that as well I think we need to focus on all different areas throughout Augusta- Richmond County that are prime for development and how to best market those areas not just south Augusta but really all of Augusta,” said Commissioner Mary Davis.
The subcommittee would be made up of the mayor, commissioners representing south Augusta as well as state lawmakers.
