Former Augusta State men’s golf coach charged with domestic violence

CONWAY, S.C. (WJBF) – A former Augusta State men’s golf coach has been arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence in the second degree.

Kevin McPherson of Myrtle Beach, the current men’s golf coach at Coastal Carolina University allegedly assaulted his wife early on the morning of June 15 after the couple got into an argument while on a boat docked at a landing in Murrells Inlet.

In a police report, the responding officer noted McPherson’s wife had “apparent swelling to the right side of her face, a black eye, and red marks on the right side of her neck.”

Officers located McPherson, 36, a short time after responding to his wife’s complaints. He was taken to J. Ruben Long Detention Center.

Golfweek reports that McPherson has been indefinitely suspended from his coaching position.
