SALEM, N.Y. (WTEN) – According to Sheriff deputies, a man was arrested after allegedly shooting at a person’s vehicle because they were lost.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 19 the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of some kind of dispute and gun shots being fired on Route 153 in Salem.

When officers got there they discovered that the victim was looking for a relative’s campsite and was lost. He mistakenly drove down a long driveway that led to 36-year-old Brian Tschorn’s home.

The victim says he was confronted by Tschorn, yelling to get off his property. Then Tschorn started shooting at his car as he tried to turn around.

Several rounds struck the victim’s vehicle and trailer. One round entered the passenger’s compartment of the victim’s vehicle from behind, nearly missing the victim’s head before lodging in the instrument panel of the victim’s truck.

Police say Tschorn was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, a Felony.

Tschorn was arrested and arraigned in the Town of Salem Court and held in Lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The case is being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review, possible Grand Jury action and possible additional charges.
