Thomson’s Freedom Blast celebration set for Friday, July 1st

THOMSON, Ga.— The Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Thomson will be hosting the fireworks show “Freedom Blast” on Friday, July 1, 2016.

This event will be on the front lawn of the Thomson-McDuffie County Government Complex. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. with games and activities for the whole family.

The Thomson Family Y will coordinate different activities such as sack races, a dunking booth, and so much more. The Thomson Fire Department will also have their ladder truck spraying water for the kids to play in. Vendors will be selling barbecue, ice cream, hamburgers and hot dogs, etc.  So don’t forget to bring your appetite!

A new addition to Freedom Blast this year will be the Patriots of McDuffie County, sponsored by Shaw Industries, recognizing local heroes. It starts at 8:30pm on the front steps of the Government Center. Major David Moore, retired Marine Corps will be the guest speaker.

Once the recognition of our Patriots is over, the fireworks begin.  So bring a chair and plan on a capturing a spectacular show!
