WAYNESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation along with Waynesboro Police Department are investigating a shooting out of Burke County, Sunday.
GBI’s Pat Morgan tells NewsChannel 6 that around 11pm, Saturday, the Waynesboro Police Department responded to Washington Drive in reference to a shooting during a block party with more than 100 people present.
That’s when they found 35-year old Travis Walker lying on the ground from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Augusta University Medical Center, where he’s currently being treated.
Law enforcement officials later learned that two additional victims had been shot during the incident and were transported to Augusta University Medical Center by private car for medical attention.
They’ve been identified as 27- year old Johndrick Mells, of Augusta, and 32- year old Rico Abraams of Waynesboro.
The GBI Thomson Regional Field Office was requested to assist with the investigation around midnight.
The GBI has called for back up to assist with the large crime scene.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no word on any suspect(s) at this time.
