AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – While so many of us are watching the events unfold through our television and social media, two Augusta men are seeing the aftermath first hand.

Sam Baker and Brian Brooker were in Dallas Thursday night for a work conference. They were headed to dinner when they say gun shots started ringing out.

“Commotion every where,” Baker says. “People are running around. Police are flying by.  There’s helicopters in the air.  We didn’t know what to do, we didn’t have a car, so we were just trying to get out of the city as soon as we could.”

“I mean you hear reports and see it on the news,” Brooker says. “But then you know you’re just a couple of blocks from something like that happening…it really makes you stop and think.”

They said Friday has been a tense day in the city, and it’s clear everyone is still in a state of shock.
