AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – An Aiken Public Safety Officer– who was named in a federal lawsuit– has resigned.

Chief Charles Barranco tells News Channel 6 that Corporal Chris Medlin has left his job.

Barranco would not say why Medlin resigned, but he did say that a social media posting from Medlin was under investigation.

Medlin was one of three officers named in a federal lawsuit filed back in April.

In that lawsuit, Elijah Pontoon and Lakey Hicks claim they were illegally stopped by officers and searched without consent back in 2014.

The complaint also says an officer exposed Hicks’ chest, with male police present.

Aiken Public Safety the incident,  but has since mandated that all officers undergo regular diversity training.
