AUGUSTA,Ga. (WJBF) More manpower is getting ready to come on board Augusta’s storm water maintenance program.
The commission Engineering Committee approving spending three million dollars in storm water fund to hire private contractor crews to assist city forces.
These crews will take care of of issues like the maintenance and cleaning of ditches, retention ponds and storm drains.
“Cleaning up the things that need to be done we have major projects we have minor projects but one of the biggest things we have is things clogging up out system these are what we call our on call contractors who will be out in each and every ditch in Richmond County that we are responsible for,” said Commissioner Sammie Sias.
City engineers say requests to hire three more private contractors will be going to commissioners in two weeks.
The crews should be on the job before the end of next month.
