AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Georgia DOT has closed the Augusta Welcome Center facility due to water main issues.

The public will have no access to the building, located on I-20 Westbound, due to lack of water. But the outside parking areas are accessible if needed.

The cause of the water pipe issues are unknown.

GDOT will have a more accurate timeline for repairs and reopening timetable once a contractor identifies the problem.
