Toddler shot in North Augusta

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – NewsChannel 6 has learned that a toddler was shot in the leg in North Augusta.

Dispatch tells us the call came in just before 1:30 p.m. Friday.

It happened on Hutchinson Drive.

Because the home is near North Augusta Middle School, the school was on lockdown for a short time. It has since been lifted.

Witnesses say that there was an argument outside of the home and then gunshots were heard.

The child was taken to a local hospital, and NewsChannel 6 learned Monday that the child has been released from the hospital.

Details regarding who shot the child aren’t available at this time.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Department tells us that the investigation is ongoing.
