Officials rule Crab King fire accidental

UPDATE: The spokesman for the State Fire Commissioner tells us that today’s Crab King fire has been ruled accidental.

He says that the blaze was caused by a malfunction with one of the furnaces.

That led to a gas leak which caused an explosion and fire.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

The building suffered some major damages and the owners won’t exactly how bad it is until next week.

Crab King is closed until further notice.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Richmond County fire crews are on the scene of a structure fire at Crab King located along Olive Road and Milledgeville Road in Augusta.

Fire crews responded shortly after 9 am and they tell us they were able to put the fire out.

At this time, there is no word on what started the fire.

No one was injured.
