THOMSON, Ga. (WJBF) – Investigators charged 22-year-old Ricquavius Tarver, of Warrenton, with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime late Saturday night following the shooting death of 32-year-old Roosevelt Demmons. GBI Special Agent In Charge Pat Morgan said Thomson Police found Demmons at CC’s Car Wash, located on East Hill Street and Black Street in Thomson around 6:00 p.m. Tarver is being held at the McDuffie County Detention Center in Thomson. News Channel 6 spoke with an aunt of Demmons. And she said he was a father and truck driver from Thomson.
“Last time he came to me and my husband’s birthday party he really enjoyed himself. He just really laughed and really enjoyed himself. He always had a smile on his face,” Rosella Mitts said.
Morgan said, “It’s early right now in the investigation. We’re still doing those interviews, but we do understand there was some type of confrontation between the victim and the shooter.”
According to Morgan, an autopsy will be performed at a later time.
Thomson, GA– Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are looking into a shooting death in Thomson.
Deputies responded to the corner of East Hill Street and Black Street at 6 P.M.
The McDuffie County coroner tells us that 32-year-old Roosevelt Demmons died at the scene.
A suspect is in custody. The investigation is still ongoing.
