Augusta, GA. (WJBF)- The 30th Annual Holiday Pit stop ushered in several visitors on Labor day. This year the event was held at the North Augusta Welcome Center sponsored by the Anheuser-Busch Beverage Company.
Those traveling on Interstate 20 East were able to stop in for a safety travel break that included information on safety driving tips. The Labor Day Weekend Pit Stop is part of “Nation of Responsible Drinkers”, one of the many alcohol awareness programs promoted by Anheuser-Busch, Inc. Rhea Zorn says although they’re a beverage company their goal is to help keep people safe while traveling on the roads.
“We want everyone to be safe while out celebrating for the holiday or at any time of the year so if you’re going to participate in alcoholic beverages and enjoyment make sure to have a designated driver.” Zorn said.
Last year they had over 1,500 visitors stop by on the holiday and they’re expecting even more this year. Outside of the welcome center was a damaged vehicle that represented the dangers of drinking and driving.
“Keep yourself and everybody out on the road safe we all have family and friends and the vehicle out front is a perfect example of what can happen if you waiver from that and If you make a bad decision.” Zorn added.
In addition to complimentary items provided for holiday travelers such as hot coffee, cold drinks, chips, cookies, and other assorted snacks, they also gave out consumer awareness and responsibility materials such as key chains, trash bags and brochures to read while traveling.
