Augusta Commissioners are debating expanding drug testing for city workers.
Right now, workers in safety-sensitive jobs or who drive vehicles face random drug tests.
That adds up to more than 60 percent of the city’s work force.
But as we first told you, commissioner Marion Williams is pushing for all workers to be randomly tested.
He says it’s about treating all employees the same.
“What company do you know that tests just a certain level of of their people this is government we got to treat it like government we got to treat everybody the same we can’t have big I’s and little U’s that what it looks like we’re always looking at the little U’s it’s time for the I’s to have their share to,” said Commissioner Marion Williams.
The commission voting to send the drug testing issue back to committee to get more information about the process and how employees are selected for testing.
