“Out There…Somewhere”: Keep on truckin; to the moon and back and back again

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – It’s was just piling on putting  more miles on the truck.

“About three hundred total round trip,” said Driver Anthony Rich.

This truck has been in the Augusta Concrete fleet for about twenty years, but in this big rigs case it’s not the years it’s the mileage, a whole lot of mileage.

“You know we average about fifty thousand miles a year for twenty years so that’s a million, said President of Augusta Concrete.

That’s right this this tractor has topped the one million mile mark, make that 1 million 14 thousand miles.

“One million miles?”

“Well to me it feels like its almost new but she still runs like it seems the first day,” said Rich.

:How far is a million miles?

“It’s a “dern” long way I can tell you that it’s a lot when you’re hauling concrete block,” said Farmer.

“How far is a million miles it’s to the moon and back two times?”

“That’s a crazy way of looking at it,” said Farmer.

“How far is a million miles well if you drove 60 miles an hour twenty four-seven it would take you two years to reach a million miles.”

“We’ve been twenty years so we don’t have to drive quite that far,” said Farmer.

But this truck really put on the miles driving all over the area.

“Vaucluse 200- thousand times”

“That’s more like it,” said Farmer.

But not many trucks like this but a million plus miles, some might say boss time for new ride but not Anthony,

“In fact if he tells me to get out of it then we might have a discrepancy,” said Rich.

One million miles so how about two.

“I’m not sure it will make two million or not but we’ll look forward to that day,” said Farmer

“We’ll be here.”

“I’ll call you back,” he said.
