AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Augusta has a new road map for the future of the park system.
Commissioners approving the 250 thousand dollar master plan for the recreation department.
The plan recommends 75 million dollars in work, with most of that focusing on improving the maintenance at the city’s existing park instead of creating new ones.
” We hope they would embrace it as a big blue print but we understand they want to know what’s going on in their parks that’s one of the things we heard throughout the surveys and all people are interested in their neighborhood parks. so that will be up near the top of our priority list as we start to implement the plan,” says Recreation and Parks Director Glenn Parker.
According to the master plan the number one activity the public wanted for the parks system was an increase in walking and biking trails.
