DADE CITY, Fla.  – The No. 8 University of South Carolina Aiken golf team wrapped up the Saint Leo Invitational by placing second Tuesday afternoon.

Head coach Michael Carlisle‘s team registered a score of one-over par, 865, for the event. The squad posted scores of 291-288-286.

After starting the day in fifth place, the squad soared into second with a sensational back nine by Samuel Schiff, who ended up in a tie for eighth place with August Lindvall.

Schiff was red-hot over the last two rounds of action. After opening with a five-over par, 72, he finished the last 36 holes with a 69-68 to finish with a two-under par, 214.

Lindvall was solid in all three rounds, posting scores of 70-71-73 to tie Schiff with a two-under par, 214.

Johnson Holliday completed the final 18 holes of competition by shooting a one-over par, 73. For the event, he notched a five-over par, 221. Holliday’s score was good enough for 30th place.

Rookie Dan Sheehan was a stroke behind Holiday. He opened his collegiate debut with a five-over par, 77. Sheehan finished his final two rounds with a one-over par, 73, and an even-par, 72, for his combined score of six-over par, 222. He tied for 32nd.

Axel Ostensson completed the tournament by carding a seven-over par, 79, over the final 18 holes. He finished the invitational with a 12-over par, 228 for 47th place.

The Pacers return to action Oct. 3-4 at the Firestone Invitational.
