SC: Shooting at Townville Elementary school, suspect’s father found dead at separate location

TOWNVILLE, SC (WSPA/WJBF) – Anderson Co. deputies say there was a shooting at Townville Elementary school around 1:44 p.m. Wednesday.

They say one suspect, a teenager, is in custody and there is no longer an active threat.

Two 6-year-old students are confirmed to have been injured, one shot in the foot, one in the leg.

One is listed in critical condition.

One teacher, a woman, was taken to a hospital, as well. She was shot in the shoulder and is listen in good condition

There is a homicide at Osborne Rd. connected to the teen shooting suspect, according to the Anderson Co. Coroner.

The victim is 47-year-old Jeffrey Dwight Osborne who was found dead at a home. He is the suspect’s father.

SC Highway Patrol is on scene helping to clear room and secure the scene.

We can see deputies on the roof of the school with their weapons drawn.

Highway 24 is shutdown.

Two medical helicopters are on the scene at the school.

Air 7 says they have airlifted one patient.

Oconee Co. sheriff’s office have been called in to help clear the building and secure the scene.

Students are being bused to Oakdale Baptist Church on Hwy 24, that is where parents need to pick them up.

SC Gov. Nikki Haley is expected to be at a 6 p.m. news conference.

She released a statement:

“As we work together with law enforcement to make sure they have the support they need to investigate what happened in Townville, Michael and I ask that everyone across South Carolina join us in praying for the entire Townville Elementary School family and those touched by today’s tragedy.”

The school is closed for the rest of the week.
