AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Motorists in Augusta will soon be seeing Walton Way in a whole new light.
Commissioners approving a change to the streetscape project by replacing the planned thirty foot street lamps with about five dozen smaller ones.
The original plans called for the taller lamp posts until engineers found that trees and power lines interfered.
Making the change will cost the project an additional 380 thousand dollars.
I think overall it’s going to enhance Walton Way I think residents will appreciated when the work is done there was a change over that was because of the Utilities they were not expecting but that happens the funds are there in TIA and other funds that won’t affect the General Fund,” said Commissioner Mary Davis.
The more than seven and a half million dollar road project should be completed before March of next year.
