BEECH ISLAND, S.C. (WJBF) – Gas stations and convenience stores are seeing a major increase in foot traffic and drive-up traffic at the pump.

Sprint Foods, on Sandbar Ferry Road in Beech Island, has been feeling the increase since Wednesday.

The store has been stocking up on extra hot food and non-perishable items. Employees there say a lot of people are just making the stop to walk their dogs and take a break.

“We want them to experience fresh and clean when they walk in here, friendly. So being able to provide them with fresh food, clean restrooms, good directions…and just making them feel welcomed,” said Anna Felz, spokesperson for Sprint Foods.

Store workers say the majority of lines have been forming during the late night hours starting around 10 p.m.
