Augusta, Ga. (WJBF) — It’s playoff time in the CSRA as GHSA state softball and volleyball playoffs began Wednesday afternoon. It was a rough opening day for CSRA softball teams with six of 11 local teams getting swept, effectively ending their seasons. Burke County and Harlem advanced though and Greenbrier, Screven County and Grovetown will all play in decisive third games Thursday.
Perennial power Greenbrier (2-seed) split with Lee County (3-seed) in the first round of the 6A softball playoffs. In game one, the Wolfpack were down 4-2 entering the 7th inning before scoring three-runs for a walk-off win. Game 2 just as dramatic as Greenbrier hit a three-run homer to tie the game at 8 before Lee County scored the winning run on its own walk-off in the bottom of the 7th.
