AUGUSTA,Ga (WJBF) Renovations at Augusta’s Daniel Field Airport are really taking off.
A big crowd, including Governor Nathan Deal on hand for the dedication of the Daniel Field hanger renovation.
The high-lite being the full restoration of the original 75 year old hanger doors,
They were preserved, but brought up to date and made fully mechanical.
“They were completely restored to include the glass the original glass has been preserved there are over two thousand panes of glass that were taken out new glass put in but the most important thing was these doors were made electric that they open and close with the push of a button,” said Tim Martin the Chairman of the Daniel Field General Aviation Commission.
The hanger door renovations were dedicated to the “Citizens of Augusta Richmond County” because it was voter approved -T-SPLOST that provided the million dollars in funding for the project.
