AUGUSTA, Ga.– The annual Stand Down for the Homeless was held today at the Salvation Army Center of Hope on Greene Street.
VA civil servants were on hand to answer questions about services that the community provides. Vaccinations and flu shots were offered as well as haircuts. hundreds of people were helped today.

“While they’re here they’re able to engage with various community resources, find out housing information, employment information, information on child care, social security, any kind of information that will help them address the issues that they’re dealing with.”
Dozens of local organizations provided services for this annual event. Organizers say the main goal is to get homeless people off the street and to improve their lives.
