AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The suspect in an Augusta murder has been caught in Virginia.

27-year-old Antwon Strader was found just before 1 a.m. Saturday in Martinsville by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Strader is accused of shooting and killing 34-year-old Alex Dashiells Thursday night near Barnes Lane and Jenkins Street in Augusta.

He’s facing several charges, including Murder and Hijacking a Motor Vehicle.

The murder suspect was taken into custody in Virginia without any problems.

He’s in the Henry County Jail until he can be extradited to Georgia.


AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the suspect in Thursday night’s deadly shooting on Barnes Lane & Jenkins Street.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Antwon Demetrius Strader of Warren Street in Augusta.

Strader has outstanding warrants for his arrest for Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

After the murder, Strader then used a gun to carjack a woman on Wrightsboro Road. The car is a black 2015 Honda Civic with the license plate SABEI0N.

We’re told he also took the carjacking victim’s cellphone, which was tracked to North Carolina.

Warrants are being obtained against Strader in this incident for Hijacking Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Strader is considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – At least one person is dead after a shooting on Barnes Lane and Jenkins Street, in Augusta.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene around 11:30 Thursday night. They then found the victim and rushed them to the hospital where they later died.

At this point, there is no information about a suspect.
