GIBSON, Ga. (WJBF) – They didn’t invent the time machine at Glascock County Consolidated School on Monday, but organizers did the next best thing by offering students a glimpse into their futures at a career fair.
Nearly 70 speakers from various career fields across the CSRA, including NewsChannel 6’s John Hart, spoke to students in classrooms in groups of 20-30 during the morning. Then in the afternoon, representatives from the different career fields set up booths in the school’s gymnasium where students could browse and ask questions about jobs.
“Students are our future,” said Wanda Davis, one of the event’s main organizers. “It’s our goal to make sure that they have the exposure that they need to make good career choices for their futures.”
Other career fields represented Monday included the military, medical, academia, firefighting and law enforcement. Glascock County holds the event every two years for middle and high school students.
