AUGUSTA.Ga (WJBF)  The question of whether commissioner Marion Williams should be paid for serving on the planning commission stays a thorn in the side city leaders.
Williams has argued for more than a year that he should be paid for being the ex-officio member of the planning board, because commissioners never approved ending the practice.
A vote Tuesday to pay Williams for future  meetings passed  however commissioners voted to reconsider the action wiping out the vote.

In trying to solve a problem you never waste time could it have been used more effectively yes, said Commissioner Dennis Williams, not Marion

Did you solve the problem though?”

Probably not solved,” said Williams

“So we still have this issue to deal with in the  future”

That’s correct,” said Williams.

Commissioner Marion Williams says he should be paid for the last two meetings of this year, and the three meeting he attended where he wasn’t paid.
Under city rules commissioners are scheduled to appoint new ex-officio members to various boards in January.
