AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – After being postponed for a year, the 3-day Southern City Film Festival is getting ready to kick-off on Friday.

Nearly 40 movies will premiere at the AECOM, Aiken Center for the Arts, and Newberry Hall.

From feature films to documentaries, including the Happy Movie that sold out in Augusta, will be shown throughout the weekend.

“It went from an idea of let’s do a film festival to now everything is solidified and its a 4-day international film festival there are people coming in from other countries for this thing,” said Founder and President of Southern City Film Justin Wheelon. “There’s essentially almost 22 events the next 4 days.”

All the proceeds will be donated to the Southern City Film Institute.

It’s a place to teach children and adults the art of film making through workshops and classes.
