Four people dead after overnight car wreck in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, GA. – Four people are dead after an 18-wheeler slammed into a car, Friday night.

The Jefferson County coroner says it happened shortly before 9 p.m.

He says six people were in a car, travelling north on Highway 296 and went to cross over Fenns Bridge Road.

That’s when the driver of an 18-wheeler saw the car trying to cross and tried to stop.

The 18-wheeler hit the car.

Now, three females and one male are dead.

The other people in the car were taken to a hospital, with one in critical condition.

The names are not being released at this time because family has not been notified.
